Thoughts of a Spiritual Nature

by: John H. Stephens

Habakkuk 2:14 “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”

This prophesy is one that will be fulfilled in our time. This has been often misquoted “For the earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord...”, when it says “...the KNOWLEDGE of the glory...”

Our concept of the glory of the Lord is mostly built from Old Testament verses. We remember Mt. Sinai and God s coming in a “dense cloud” so the people could hear God speaking or the “train that filled the temple” or the “fire” that covered the tabernacle. All of these were to people who were rebellious.

How will the glory appear today?

The scripture we will use is found in John 2:1-10, “On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus mother was there and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus mother said to Him, ‘They have no more wine. ‘Dear woman, why do you involve me? Jesus replied. ‘My time has not yet come. His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever He tells you. Nearby stood six stone jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water ; so they filled them to the brim. Then He told them, ‘Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, through the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said ‘Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the quests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

We could spend hours on the “theology” aspects of this passage, but what needs to be stated and understood is a simple truth.

There was a “need” that, at least, Jesus mother thought, could not be met except through Jesus. It was an embarrassing need and she did not want the family to suffer. She knew why Jesus had come. He was already teaching, (NOTE: verse 2 “and His disciples”), and He most certainly had begin to teach on the “Messiah.”

Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,”.

Jesus came to meet needs, spiritual needs, physical needs and material needs. He is the answer to every need we have. He is our righteousness, our salvation, our heirship, our everything!

Now the key to our thought.

John 2: 11 “This, the first of His miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed His GLORY and His disciples put their faith in Him.”

The glory is manifested when He meets a need! This knowledge will allow you to see, feel, acknowledge and proclaim His glory. He wants you to minister to others needs that His glory may be manifested in and through you! In this. the knowledge of His glory will be known everywhere on earth.

PS. Last thought - are you unsure how to minister for a miracle meeting of needs? It is simple, just say out loud and with the laying on of hands, “THAT WHICH I HAVE RECEIVED I GIVE TO YOU. FREELY RECEIVE.” The Holy Spirit will be provide for the need.
